The Greek Society for Nature Conservation, National Operator of the Blue Flag International Program in our country, announced the coast and the marina awards.
For the twenty fifth (25) consecutive year, three (3) coasts of the Municipality of Loutraki-Perachora-Aghioi Theodoroi were awarded with the Blue Flag, two shores in Loutraki and another one at Loutraki Place.
See the list here.
As far as the criteria of the program are concerned, they are related to the sea and the coastal cleanliness, coastal organization, visitor safety, nature protection and environmental sensitization.
According to the EMSO, "Blue Flag" is the most recognizable and widespread internationally-quality environmental symbol in the world. It has been awarded since 1987 to beaches and marinas that meet the rigorous award criteria.
A prerequisite for awarding a Blue Flag coast is that the quality of the water is "excellent". While no other quality grading, even "good", is acceptable to the program. The award has a duration of one year.
It is noted that major international travel agencies pay special attention to the Blue Flag when choosing the destinations they propose to their customers as a guarantee of the high quality services offered on the coast as well as the protection of the environment
